Gianugo answers my question. This matches my expectations: collaboration between (almost) competing companies is deemed to be a difficult exercise, whether they are into OSS or not. This is especially the case when each company could be "interchanged" by another one for a particular project; things would be different if a project would be big enough that no one company can do it on its own. Then collaboration certainly makes sense. Hat of for trying, though. And it seems that Orixo is still not officially dead, so who knows what the future will bring.
