Create Mac apps with Ruby

October 21st, 2008

A few days ago, Apple published an article about how to develop a native Mac application with Ruby.

For one reason or another, I’ve always been wanting to write a native desktop application. Somehow, they seem to be more ‘real’ than a web application (albeit web applications are much easier to maintain, deploy, etc). But C/C++ just isn’t my cup of tea, and Java makes you jump through more hoops than you can imagine to write a decent application.

So I’m thrilled with this new opportunity. Having gathered enough Ruby skills over the last couple of years, and excited about the cleanness of most Mac applications that I’ve encounterd so far, I’ll try to build something in my spurious free time. I’ll keep you posted!
